Background
The musical project was formed in Buffalo, New York. Cemeteries' debut album, The Wilderness, which was released in 2012 via Lefse Records, Reigle recorded this album in his guest bedroom in the span of 6 months.
Musical Styles and Influences
The making of the first album was inspired by David Lynch's music collaborator Angelo Badalamenti, and watching vintage horror films and living in a wooded environment.
His melodies have a trace of despair, yet nothing as frightening as the goth name recommends. Two significant 2012 patterns sneak in to play, witch house and chillwave, however generally the album embodies the sluggish echoes of dream pop.
Resounded atmospherics may infer Mazzy Star, and the nighttime characteristics fall directly in accordance with counterparts like Beach House and Bradford Cox's drearier, spacy yield in Deerhunter or Atlas Sound.
His impending full-length, The Wilderness, despite the fact that was recorded at home yet, seems like it came from the crypt, as confirmed by the extra and phantom, irregularly foresty tones of "Summer Smoke," a track that has been given the wonderful, Nolan Wilson Goff-coordinated video.
Relaxed, charming, and creepy, Cemeteries' first official album offers a welcome haunting. The very first project of Kyle Reigle, Cemeteries makes a soundscape in which smooth percussion gets layered with synth and guitar, where ethereal vocals lend dream pop a drafty vibe.
